28 Jun 2007  |  Another New Spin-out for Glasgow

Following on from the successful launch of Wireless bioDevices, daVinci Ventures has helped create another new spin-out company from Glasgow University. XanIC is a new business that has been established to commercialise the University's pioneering work in high-speed compound semiconductors. The company will be designing and manufacturing new components based on a world-leading 50nm GaAs mHEMT process developed at Glasgow. XanIC's first products will be low-noise amplifiers for application in security imaging systems.

For around two years, daVinci Ventures has been preparing the business plans, generating customer interest and raising investment for XanIC. This is the second company to receive investment from the IP Group under its recently announced partnership with the University. Nick Wood of daVinci Ventures will be driving the business forward as interim CEO.
